Position Summary: A position is available for a scientist at the Research Assistant Professor level in the Dayton Lab in the UNC - NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering. This individual will serve as a senior member of a lab involved with novel ultrasound imaging and therapeutics technologies. This position will work with the principal investigator to contribute to larger lab efforts. The individual in this position will also function independently on research projects, including writing grants to support their own salary as well as that of other lab members, direct research, prepare progress reports, prepare papers and presentations, and supervise junior lab members. Responsibilities include managing all aspects of specific projects within appropriate grants. This entails planning, organizing and implementing the day-to-day details of studies for each project in collaboration with the principal investigator and other lab members involved in the project (students, post-docs, research technicians). The emphasis will be on the engineering aspects of this research, including subject handling, in-vitro and in-vivo imaging, data analysis, oral presentation, manuscript presentation, and adherence to relevant protocols. Duration of the position is contingent on performance and the availability of funding.

Education Requirements: This Research Assistant Professor will have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or closely related field.

Qualification and Experience: Applicants must have specific expertise in acoustics. It is expected that this researcher have experience in a laboratory setting working with preclinical projects, excellent written and oral communications skills, and good organizational skills.
