Job Summary:

The Wisconsin National Primate Research Center (WNPRC) is one of seven federally supported National Primate Research Centers and the only one in the Midwest. WNPRC's mission is to increase the understanding of basic primate biology and to improve human health and quality of life through research. To accomplish this, the WNPRC helps discover treatments, preventions and cures for human disease; generates new knowledge of primate biology, from the molecular and whole animal levels to the understanding of primate ecosystems; facilitates research progress by providing expertise, resources and training to scientists worldwide; and collects primate information and disseminates to the research community and to the public. Based in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education (OVCRGE) of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison), the WNPRC is commited to diversity both as an end in itself, but also as a valuable means for eliminating health disparaties through research. To support this commitment, we encourage applications from candidates who hold these same values of diversity and inclusion.

Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Animal Services Division (ASD), the incumbent provides administrative assistance to the ASD and program assistance in the Colony Records sub-unit of the ASD. The incumbent will provide administrative support of ASD operations by coordinating various schedules and meetings; enter Veterinary Services charges into the WNPRC's financial system; ensure WNPRC employees are in the Approved Driver Database; and oversee information for import/export, Convention on International Trade on Endangered Species (CITES), Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and State Controlled Substance Special Use Authorizations licenses and permits required by ASD staff. In support of the Colony Records sub-unit, the incumbent will assist in the maintenance of accurate and complete animal records in the WNPRC's Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to meet the clinical and research needs of the institution; review database entries to ensure completeness and accuracy of records; and maintain proper flow of records and reports among the various units and divisions. Accuracy and attention to detail are imperative in this position to maintain regulatory compliance, professional accreditation, and grant funding.

The Primate Center is a tuberculosis-free environment.
