Job Description:

The University of Florida (UF) is seeking a faculty member to serve as the Director of the UF Online Learning Institute (OLI). OLI is charged with finding ways to improve student learning by merging the learning and teaching sciences with advancements in technology that delivers education at a distance. Faculty from multiple disciplines including Education, Engineering, Journalism and Communications, and Fine Arts collaborate within OLI and the Director will provide leadership and vision to the institute. The Director will work closely with other OLI faculty and the Director of UF Online (https://ufonline.ufl.edu/), and will have his/her academic home in the College of Education.  This is a nine-month, tenure-track, position with a negotiable start date and a start-up package appropriate to the position.

Responsibilities:

  • Vision and leadership to OLI
  • Scholarly activities commensurate with expectations of a tenure-track faculty member at a very high research activity university
  • Pursuit of external funding in collaboration with colleagues within and outside of the College of Education and as part of the OLI
  • Advising and mentoring graduate students
  • Teaching within area of expertise
  • Service to program, department, college, university and profession

Minimum Requirements:
  • Expertise in a research area relevant to the Online Learning Institute
  • Ability to lead and work collaboratively and effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Established and recent record of writing, securing, and successfully managing grants 
  • Established and current record of scholarly productivity
  • Administrative experience related to a Center, grants management, and/or large scale research projects.
  • Ability to contribute to the national visibility of OLI, UF, and the College of Education
  • Strong knowledge of a variety of research methodologies
