Job Description:

The Department of Emergency Medicine at UF is seeking applicants to fill the position of Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure track faculty). This position will conduct independent and collaborative research in the area of basic preclinical, and translational clinical studies related to biomarkers and therapeutic testing in traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and hypoxia ischemia encephalopathy, out of cardiac arrest and sepsis-related encephalopathy and related areas.

  • Perform original research, data analysis, paper writing and grant writing in independent and collaborative fashion.
  • Supervise technical associates in technical aspects of the laboratory. Supervise and assist visiting scholars in research programs. Supervise and teach undergraduate student in scientific volunteering jobs.

  • Read and analyze the relevant literature; contribute new ideas, actively engage in scientific discussion, provide expertise to inform discussion of new concepts
  • Develop high sensitive methods to explore protein, microRNA or other biomarkers;
  • Develop experimental animal models; In charge of transgenic mouse species maintenance;
  • Contribute to collaborative projects in both pre-clinical and clinical research;
  • Write original scientific manuscripts;
  • Contribute and assist in grant applications;
  • Develop concepts for own grant application with support from the mentor and department Chair;
  • Contribute to quality controls, verification of scientific results, rigor and robustness of scientific data by mentoring junior members;
  • Attend scientific conferences and present work of the group.

    Lab supervision and teaching
  • Participate in one-on-one teaching and mentoring activities
  • Mentor and teach undergraduate student in scientific programs;
  • Supervise visiting scholar and technologists as relevant for research activities;
  • Contribute to managing a positive lab environment including the spirit of collaboration and helping others
