Seeking a strategic and creative communicator to contribute to the College Marketing and Communications team at the College of the Holy Cross. As Writer for the office, you will bring the Holy Cross student experience to life through creative and multi-faceted storytelling. Whether you are researching a story assignment or pitching an idea, you'll seek out the achievements of our students, faculty, and alumni, and you will use your skills to communicate the mission and values that drive those achievements. In this role, you will be an integral part of a talented, dedicated team of content producers - including designers, developers, multimedia producers and strategists - who work together to inform new audiences of the College, and experiences happening here every day. You will collaborate with faculty, students and administrators to tell their story, and that of Holy Cross, through traditional, digital and social media.
Provides writing as well as editorial assistance in the preparation of web/digital content, print publications and other content developed by the Office of College Marketing & Communications. Reporting to the Managing Editor - Digital Communications, this position works closely with key stakeholders across campus to research, write, edit, and publish stories and information for multiple channels that are consistent with the Holy Cross brand and advance institutional goals.
Suggests and is assigned news stories, feature stories, reports, and other content for publication in all College media, primarily Holy Cross' online newsroom and Holy Cross Magazine. Key member of multi-disciplinary content team charged with working collaboratively to maximize storytelling and support strategic marketing initiatives. Other team members include producers of photography, video, digital content, social media, and traditional media. Assists in organizing, formatting, writing, editing and proofreading digital content, print publications, and other material. Interviews and researches subjects; serves as editor in gathering, writing, and organizing information for publication. Posts online content, ensuring compliance with web style guidelines. May provide assistance to other members of the College Marketing & Communication in the production of content; supervising work-study and student interns; and other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in communications, creative writing, journalism, English literature or related field. At least 2-3 years professional experience in writing and editing. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Mac or PC platform skills, Microsoft suite applications to include spreadsheets and word processing. Strong writing, editing skills and understanding of AP style. Basic proficiency in web publishing and content management tools.
This is a full-time exempt position.
