General Education Mathematics/Physics Instructor
The mathematics program at York College seeks applicants with demonstrated experience teaching college algebra, liberal arts mathematics and physics, applied calculus, and related courses serving those in non-technical majors. The cover letter of the successful applicant will show that they have developed pedagogies that develops student interest in mathematics through an approachable style that employs engaging applications to the enrolled disciplines. Applicants must demonstrate their interest in and commitment to teach these types of mathematics and physics courses. The position requires as a secondary time commitment collaborative work with the mathematics program head assessing these courses and periodically meeting with the adjunct faculty teaching these courses. Applicants with a Master's degree in mathematics and at least 3 years of full-time experience, or the equivalent in part-time teaching experience, are invited to apply for a full-time position at the rank of Instructor.
The candidate should possess a Master's or Ph.D. in mathematics, mathematics education, or engineering and have at least 3-years full-time teaching experience or the equivalent in part-time teaching experience. Candidates will demonstrate success with pedagogies in teaching liberal arts mathematics and physics.
