University of Maryland University College seeks a Director, Leadership and Sponsorship Programs. The Director of Leadership Giving, reporting to the Senior Director of Development, is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of leadership gift donors from individuals and sponsorship gifts primarily at the $1,000 - $10,000 level. With the assistance of the Senior Director of Development, manages the Blue and Gold Society through solicitation, cultivation and recognition. The candidate will also manage University-wide corporate sponsorship programs.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward leadership gifts for UMUC managing an assigned list of approximately 100 leadership prospects and donors and is assigned a specific annual fundraising monetary goal along with goals specific to prospect and donor contacts, and proposals/asks done
  • Leads the development and implementation of a plan to enhance and expand the University’s Blue and Gold Giving Society. This includes but not limited to mailings, recognition events and activities, acknowledgment processes and maintaining data records.
  • Develops and implements all sponsorship programs at the University. This includes working closely with the Foundation and others to develop marketing materials, establish sponsorship levels, ensure benefits are delivered in a timely fashion and a successful acknowledgment process is established.
  • Creates strategy and leads efforts to increase the number of annual giving donors who have potential to give at the Blue and Gold Society level.  
  • Works closely with the Associate Vice President of Alumni and Career Services to engage and manage the solicitation and steward of the Alumni Board for leadership gifts and corporate contacts they may have for giving.
  • Identifies, cultivates and solicits Blue and Gold members through the Faculty/Staff Campaign
  • Performs other duties and special projects as required or requested.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's  Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning and  a  minimum of  four  years  of experience and demonstrated success in fundraising, specifically with major gifts.  The appropriate equivalent sales, marketing, or business development experience in the for-profit sector may be considered in lieu of fundraising experience. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing fundraising programs including societies. Experience in sponsorship fundraising. Proficiency in written communication, creativity and well developed organizational skills.  Ability to work independently. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of internal and external constituencies.   Demonstrated ability to handle complex tasks, to formulate plans and to carry out objectives, and to interact effectively with individuals. Occasional travel is required. Reliable transportation and driver's license is required. Occasional evening and weekend work.
