Research Technician, MLT, Blood Bank
Resolves immunohematologic patient and donor problems by performing serologic procedures, recording and interpreting results and releasing transfusion products.
Performs all tasks necessary to accurately label blood products intended for transfusion including serologic tests, interpretation of results, accurate record keeping and proper disposal of unfit product.
Communicate technical information and results to submitting hospitals via telephone.
Perform special antigen screening
Organize daily workload, review paperwork, maintain adequate supplies, orderly freezers and quality control during rotation in Freezing.
Maintains storage of rare donor bloods at adequate levels during rotation in Freezing.
Maintain knowledge of immunohematology by reading pertinent, circulated literature and attending assigned workshops.
Communicate technical and administrative information and problems to staff and supervisors.
- Certified in Clinical Laboratory Sciences by a nationally recognized agency.
- Medical Technology Certificate preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in a clinical, physical or biological science.
- Must meet CLIA standards for a technologist.
2 years laboratory experience or 1 year hospital experience
