Veterans Certifying Official
Primary responsibility for Military/Veterans Services area, serving Veterans, spouses and dependents. Provides guidance concerning Veterans educational benefits (Chapters 30, 31, 33, 35, 1606, and 1607) and monitors Veteran student enrollments are complying with Veterans Administration rules. Serves as School Certifying Official, certifying drops/adds for all students using Veteran Affairs educational benefits. Coordinates the Nebraska Educational Tuition Waiver Program under the Dependent’s Educational Assistance Program, ensuring waivers are submitted, students are enrolled, and eligible. Assists overall customer service to Veterans in answering questions pertaining to benefits, stipend, tuition extension, military transcripts and tuition assistance.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree plus three years of full time related experience required. Experience as an active duty military as senior enlisted, officer, or civilian equivalent required. Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience including part time considered. A valid driver’s license & insurability to operate College vehicles is required. Hiring process includes a background check. Hours are Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Position is contingent upon MCC Board of Governors approval. NOTE: College degrees obtained outside the U.S. accepted only when interpreted by transcript service members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
