Neuroscience (Tenure Track)
Teach undergraduate courses in Neuroscience. Collaboration with the Biology Department on the new Neuroscience program is expected.
Candidate must be committed to the liberal arts educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University and demonstrate commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring students, and scholarship.
Teach the equivalent of a full seven-course load per year, including some combination of the following: Physiological Psychology, Conditioning & Learning, Introduction to Neuroscience, Neuroscience Seminars, Introduction to Statistical Methods & Experimental Design, Research Principles & Laboratory, Cognitive Psychology, or others, depending on specialties and departmental needs.
Mentoring and advising student research projects and maintaining an active research lab are expected. Lab start-up funds are available. General faculty responsibilities will include undergraduate student academic advising and committee assignments.
Ability to teach physiological psychology (required in the neuroscience program), conditioning & learning, and statistics is esential.
Ability to contribute to Bethel's anti-racism efforts and cross-cultural understanding. Ability to inspire students majoring in Neuroscience and related fields to excel through activities such as participation in regional or national research conferences.
Experience in undergraduate teaching is preferred.
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring students in their research projects, and maintaining an active program of scholarly research is essential.
Ph.D. in Neuroscience or closely related field.
