The College of Health Professions invites applications for a tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor position in Exercise Science in the Department of Kinesiology beginning August 2018.
Research doctoral degree in Exercise Science or closely related discipline. ABD applications considered, but appointment will be at the Instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2019. Ability to teach a range of courses in the Exercise Science major that may include: advanced writing for majors, quantitative research methods, exercise physiology and foundations of exercise science. Success working with diverse populations of students and experience in college teaching is highly desirable.
Provide quality instruction primarily in a variety of undergraduate exercise science courses. Conduct research in an area of specialty in Exercise Science that complements the expertise of current faculty and the course offerings. Assist with curriculum development, student recruitment, student advising, and seek external funding. Provide serving to the department, college, university, profession and community.
The Department of Kinesiology, located within the College of Health Professions, has 30 full-time faculty and more than 1,300 undergraduate majors in Physical Education/Teacher Education, Athletic Training, Sport Management and Exercise Science. In addition, the department is responsible for oversight of the College of Health Professions Institute for Well-Being’s Wellness Center that serves over 300 members each year with its programs that support student education and community outreach. The department also has a strong, positive relationship with the University’s Division of Athletics.
