The UCI Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering is currently accepting applications for a postdoctoral scholar to join the DELTAi (Driving Engineering & Life-science Translational Advances @ Irvine, sites.uci.edu/deltai). The main objectives of this lab's research is to engineer cartilage and fibrocartilages with mechanical functionality. The utility of both stem cells and differentiated cell types are investigated.
Individual is expected to conduct research in the area of tissue engineering using cell culture and histological, biochemical, and mechanical techniques. Duties will include designing experiments and conducting independent research in tissue engineering of musculoskeletal soft tissues, preparing study results for publication, and supervising/training graduate and undergraduate students in proper laboratory research techniques and record-keeping.
Requirements: Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in biomedical, mechanical, or chemical engineering, biomedical sciences, cell biology, or related field. Should have an engineering background with hands-on experience in cell culture or biology. Excellent verbal and communications skills in the English language is required.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and years of experience.
