Job Summary/Basic Function: Serves at the information desk, assisting patrons with the checkout of materials, reference and directional questions, and the use of online resources. Works evening and weekend hours on a regular basis. Provides information and assistance in a clear and courteous manner in person, on the phone, and via chat service. Interprets and informs patrons of library and university policies and procedures. Directs patrons to relevant resources online and in the physical collection. Assists students with the use of course-related tools and applications software.

Qualifications

Education

Necessary Qualifications: High school diploma

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree

Experience

Necessary Qualifications: Five years of library experience.

Experience with personal computers and standard office equipment such as printer, copiers, scanners, and fax machines.

Thirty or more hours of higher education credits may substitute for one year of library experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with an integrated library system, previous customer service experience, and experience in an academic library, preferably working with undergraduate and graduate students.
