I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

GW's College of Professional Studies (CPS) designs programs with the requirements of adult learners and working professionals in mind. CPS offers undergraduate and graduate programs that address the competency requirements of adults working in emerging and rapidly changing professions. CPS programs draw from multiple academic disciplines and are delivered in flexible formats: face-to-face, online, or a blend of both. CPS is searching for a full-time Student Services Assistant, CPS to provide student services support for College of Professional Studies programs at the undergraduate and graduate level. This position will report to the Manager of Students Services for CPS.
Responsibilities include:
Performs a variety of responsible customer service duties to include answering questions and providing advisory information to students/administrators via telephone and email.
Provides comprehensive information and support services in areas such as registration, billing and financial aid issues, enrollment and course/program withdrawals, processing forms, graduation clearances and other routine administrative or procedural problems in regards to student records.
Notifies Program Directors and students of satisfactory academic progress and academic standing issues.
Tracks progress toward degree completion; facilitating the distribution and collection of applications for completion of certificates.
Coordinates and participates in orientations, commencement, and other student related events.
Attends department and college-wide meetings as required by Manager.
Maintains confidentiality and accuracy of student records/transcripts/files.
This position performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent computer, writing, communication, and customer service skills are desired.
Experience in higher education environment.
Knowledge of Banner and Data Warehouse system or other comprehensive computerized student information system.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Excellent records maintenance skills and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality is highly desired.
Experience with international students is desirable.
