I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

The School of Medicine and Health Sciences at the George Washington University is currently seeking an Associate Director of Development for the Department of Development and Alumni Relations. This position identifies, cultivates, and solicits interested grateful patients and/or families at the GW Medical Center for major gifts $50,000+.

Responsibilities Include:

-Manages relationship in a portfolio of 75 major gifts and higher prospects while working within the University research and prospect management system.

-Achieves monthly goals for visits, solicitations, and dollars raised as approved by Executive Director, Development and Alumni Relations in collaboration with Associate Vice President, Medical Center Development & Alumni Relations.

-Coordinates visits with academic medical leadership, physicians, and appropriate staff for the purpose of soliciting major gifts.

-Collaborates with colleagues across the Medical Center and University to achieve closure of comprehensive gift strategies.

- Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

•Experience in a medical or healthcare setting preferred
•Strong communication skills to include verbal and written abilities
•Ability to handle multiple demands
•Flexible regarding work schedule
