Job Summary


The Part-Time Recruiter for ACCESS Services is responsible for assisting with the planning, coordination and implementation of student recruitment activities and representing the campus at its feeder public and private high schools, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations and businesses. The position provides support with the admissions process and development of MAP (My Academic Plan), as well as collaborates with Student Services on their presentations, events, campus tours and advisement.


Duties & Responsibilities


•Visits high schools to recruit prospective students with disabilities; provides admission, assessment, registration and specialized program information
•Reviews and ensures existing documentation of disabilities and high school Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) are evaluated to determine eligibility for appropriate ACCESS support services
•Provides support in planning and organizing activities to generate leads for the recruitment of prospective students
•Assists students with residency and the financial aid process while resolving student admissions issues
•Collaborates and conducts college-wide recruitment initiatives with public and private high schools
•Cultivates and maintains a referral partnership with Transition Specialists in feeder high schools
•Creates term-by-term educational plans by developing My Academic Plan (MAP) for incoming FTIC- DE students with disabilities
•Provides assessment, registration and specialized program information about agencies that assists students with disabilities
•Uses caseload management technologies to provide proactive advisement to students
•Provides pre-admissions advisement to prospective and newly enrolled students with disabilities; assists students with clarifying their career pathway and selecting a program of study
•Serves on College and campus committees
•Performs other duties as assigned


Minimum Requirements


•Bachelor's degree with three (3) years of related experience
•All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
•Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
•Knowledge and understanding of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Laws and Regulations
•Knowledge and understanding of the ACCESS Disability Department's role in assisting students with disabilities to transition from high school to Miami Dade College
•Knowledge of academic advising and career development, residency and financial aid principles and practices specific to students with disabilities
•Possess excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
•Ability to demonstrate positive human relations skills
•Ability to drive and travel to and from office for recruitment activities
•Ability to work outdoors performing recruitment activities
•Possess strong communication skills
•Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
