Position Summary: The Research Associate will work as an integral part of the Gerber lab at the UNC Department of Surgery focused on stem cell research with an emphasis on cellular differentiation and organogenesis (or organ regeneration). A translational focus of the lab involves developing technologies focused on the integration of stem cells and nanotechnology for the development of bioartificial organs. This position will be expected to function with substantial independence and expertise in original scholarship, research design, research engineering, implementation of research procedures, data analysis and interpretation of results.

Education Requirements: Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.
Qualification and Experience: Prior experience or the ability to train and assist others in a team-science research group is essential. Also, the selected candidate must have problem solving skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ph.D. in biostatistics, bioinformatics, genetics, statistical genetics, computer science, or a related field. However, a Master of Science is acceptable with sufficient experience.
