Job Summary:

The UW Population Health Institute is located in the UW Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. It is administratively housed within the Department of Population Health Sciences (PHS). The Institute's mission is to advance health and well-being for all by developing and promoting evidence-based approaches to health improvement through policy and practice at the local, state, and national levels. The Institute's faculty and academic staff conduct applied research and program evaluation, translate population health data into reports and searchable databases, prepare issue briefs on timely health-related topics, and produce educational programs, conferences and briefings. The work of the Institute has a high profile nationally and across Wisconsin. The Institute is known for supporting action to improve health at the local, state and national levels. On campus, the Institute works to enhance the collaborative relationships of UW faculty and researchers involved in various types of population health, health care, and health policy research.

The Institute has an active external advisory board of leaders in health, business, and education with statewide profiles and visibility, and an executive committee of UW faculty. The Institute staff includes more than 100 full and part-time employees includes a Director; Program Directors; academic staff including Scientists, Researchers, Research Specialists, Outreach Specialists, etc. and core administrative staff members. There are also affiliated faculty, graduate student assistants and trainees/research interns. The staffing pattern is dynamic given multiple funding sources.

This position serves as the administrative coordinator of many UWPHI activities and is responsible for: (1) managing cross-Institute administrative operations, (2) coordinating Institute seminars, conferences, and outreach events, (3) providing administrative support for the Institute Director and Program Directors, and (4) supporting purchasing, grant development, teaching, and applied research tasks. The Institute Director provides general supervision to this position. This position is expected to hire and effectively supervise student hourly workers to perform administrative tasks on behalf of this position, the Director and the Institute.



Schedule Comment:

This is expected to be a full-time position requiring a Monday-Friday work schedule and regular business hours. Some additional hours may be required, with appropriate compensation, to accomplish tasks during periods of peak workload. Some in-state travel required. An appointment down to .75 FTE may be considered if mutually agreeable.
