Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of experience working in higher education in student services, academic affairs, or academic advising (two years strongly preferred). Must have demonstrated experience in outreach activities, cross-campus collaboration, and the ability to develop and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with students, staff, and faculty in higher education settings.

The ideal candidate will have these core skills and competencies:

-Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of student-services field in higher education
-Strong strategic thinking, planning, and collaboration skills
-An ability to develop and implement a vision with innovation and creativity
-Previous supervision experience, especially of student employees
-Ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with diverse audiences, including
associate and assistant deans, faculty and instructors, department representatives, advisors, students, and other campus colleagues with student-services responsibilities
-Previous experience coordinating multiple projects, facilitating groups, and organizing and leading events
-Attention to detail, accuracy, and organization as well as demonstrated analytical aptitude
-Exceptional written and oral communication skills
-Ability to adapt to the shifting demands and independently prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
-Ability to effectively work on a team, have a flexible working style and strong work ethic
-Functional knowledge of best practices in utilizing integrated data management systems (e.g. Oracle/PeopleSoft Campus Solutions) to support curricular and enrollment planning

Position Summary:

This position is housed within the Student Services area of the University of Wisconsin - Madison (UW) Office of the Registrar and supports the office as well as campus partners, including faculty, administrators, staff, and students. This position will serve as an expert within the Student Services area of the Office of the Registrar in designing, coordinating, and administering outreach and training activities regarding academic and administrative policies and practices impacting the student record. The Office of the Registrar supports the teaching and learning mission of the UW-Madison by providing essential enrollment, curricular, and student-record services to the campus community.

The two primary roles of this position are 1) to support the UW community in carrying out the educational mission of the institution as related to the student record, and 2) to lead and grow a student-employee program within the Office of the Registrar. The incumbent will work with a diverse range of audiences, including students, student employees, registrar staff, deans offices, and other administrative and academic units on campus.
