Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences, the Academic Coordinator will serve as the primary support for faculty who develop and deliver the core educational experiences within the Course Modules during the M1 and M2 years of the medical education curriculum. The Academic Coordinator will serve as the point person to monitor the development and central coordination of module content; staff all module meetings; schedule rooms as needed for educational activities; assist faculty in entering all content; organize and support assessment activities for all modules; develop and/or manage administrative documents for the various committees; manage iTunes University course materials; create and develop Canvas sites as needed; proctor examinations; provide staffing support for the Curriculum and PEAS subcommittees; organize and submit faculty requests for educational materials to the Chair of Biomedical Sciences and the Associate Dean for Education. In addition the Academic Coordinator will maintain and modify the academic calendar through Google under the direction of the Chair and M1 and M2 Academic Year Directors; facilitate projects and implement solutions for improving USCSOMG core processes; and other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Master's degree, or bachelor's degree and 2 years experience in curriculum management or development.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, Canvas, Oasis, Google Calendar, Examsoft, Weave, Sharepoint. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Excellent Collaboration/Consulting skills. Organization and ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to work independently. Experience working with online learning and assessment systems in an academic environment


Knowledge of development and trends in, and theories related to educational processes. Skill in the development and preparation of instructional aids. The ability to plan coordinate and direct programs designed to supplement and improve curricula. Ability to integrate new technology into curricula. Communicate effectively. Uphold professional demeanor in faculty, staff and student interactions.
