The Department of Curriculum & Instruction of the University of Texas at Austin is seeking applicants for an assistant professor faculty position in the Language and Literacy Studies Program to begin August 2018. UT-Austin is an urban research university with approximately 50,000 students, 3500 of whom are enrolled in the College of Education. The Department offers both masters and doctoral-level programs, and it plays a central role in a large undergraduate teacher education program.

Qualifications for this position includes: an earned doctorate in reading or literacy education, at least three years of EC-6 teaching experience, a commitment to field-based teacher preparation, experience and ability in scholarly research and writing, and skill in using instructional technology. Scholars of underrepresented groups in academia and candidates with experience in culturally and linguistically diverse settings are strongly encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate elementary preservice literacy methods courses and graduate courses, conducting scholarly research and writing, advising graduate students, and rendering service to the department, college, university, profession, and the public. Salary will be competitive.
