General Summary of Position:

The University of Massachusetts Lowell seeks a Lab Operations Specialist/Assistant Manager Makerspace to provide technical, operational support and strategic directions for students and faculty with the Francis College of Engineering. Position is also responsible for day-to-day operations of the Makerspace and strategic vision, in collaboration with the Makerspace Manager and Dean of Engineering. Coordinates and collaborates with faculty and staff throughout the University to insure successful outcomes of technical and operational goals.

 Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-7  years of related experience
  • Experience and desire to work with undergraduate and graduate students to meet the mission of the University
  • Computer skills, including database management software
  •  Additional Considerations:

  • Strong oral and written skills required for frequent communication, reporting and presentations
  • Must be self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and ability to multitask with no supervision
  • Requires strong attention to detail and record keeping skills
  • Ability to use discretion when implementing strategies to meet goals and priorities
  • Desire to be engaged in the profession and participate in professional organizations
  •  Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field preferred
