Position Summary

Primary responsibilities include account management, human resources, event coordination and general administrative duties within the Department of Chemical Engineering & Materials Science. Serves as a fiscal officer responsible for numerous accounts; prepares monthly account reconciliations and financial reports; reviews financial transactions; compiles and analyzes information in order to assist with budget reporting and planning. Assists with faculty searches; processes Faculty and Academic Staff (FAS) hiring/reappointment forms, including completing background checks and I-9 forms as needed; initiates human resources forms to process changes to employee records; hires student employees along with acting as the Department Time Entry Specialist. Schedules and arranges seminars, meetings and conferences both on and off campus. Performs other complex administrative duties as assigned to carry out special projects and events for the department.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through the first two or three years of college, such as an Associate's degree in a business-related field or in a field which corresponds to the particular department of employment; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software and/or desktop publishing, web page software; office procedures, or in performing responsibilities related to the operational activities of the employing unit; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in human resources or a business related field; experience using EBS/SAP/HR Payroll Systems; knowledge of University business and human resources policies and procedures; experience in account management and establishing accounting procedures and controls; ability to multi-task in a very fast-paced, deadline driven environment; strong organizational and critical thinking skills; advanced skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
