Systems Engineer I
The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applicants for a Systems Engineer I position in the Information Technology Services Department. The incumbent will serve as the Senior Systems Engineer of the Enterprise Systems Team and will lead team members in the design, installation, support and maintenance of The Citadel’s underlying information technology infrastructure. The incumbent will also perform independent analysis, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of complex server technologies and will act as internal consultant, advocate, mentor, and change agent. Furthermore, the incumbent will assist with project estimation and provide to upper management, regular briefing, presentations and written updates on projects and daily tasks assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.
A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and at least five (5) years’ experience in computer system development and modification. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Advanced knowledge of information technology system analysis, design, testing and maintenance techniques. Advanced knowledge of computer or network hardware, software, operating systems, programming languages, or other information technology tools/resources. Ability to solve moderately complex problems and apply critical thinking skills to needs or problems, both individually and as part of a team. Ability to prepare status reports and moderately complex technical reports in a clear and concise manner. Ability to work effectively with users, vendors, and staff members and other IT units. Ability to follow technical directions. Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner. Ability to flexibly manage multiple priorities and proactively address needs in a dynamic environment.
Experience with Office 365 administration, Active Directory 2012 R2 and later, Microsoft and BIND DNS, Microsoft DHCP, Ellucian Banner 8.x/9.x and related systems, web development, VMWare 6.x administration, enterprise storage systems, Solarwinds, and Cognos. Experience with IPv4 network troubleshooting and skills in a mixed Windows and Linux x86-based environment.
