Business Development Manager

Job Description:

We are looking for a Business Development Manager who has experience selling enterprise IT solutions into large Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical companies. We are looking for a self-starter who has a proven track record of success selling comprehensive IT solutions. He/She will work as part of our business development team to focus on selling large, multi-year projects/engagements into new strategic accounts, and on opening up new departments/divisions within existing strategic accounts.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Optimizing revenue from new and existing clients in the Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical IT laboratory space by identifying opportunities to generate additional value
  • Accountability for both individual performance measures and achieving sales targets
  • Monitoring and evaluating sales results, productivity levels and revenue growth
  • Preparing and analyzing revenue forecasting and sales activity reports
  • Building trusting relationships with key senior client stakeholders
  • Demonstrating an in-depth understanding of the client's strategic agenda and the issues facing them
  • Leading and/or directing client engagements and business development meetings as a thought leader, and shaping client thinking
  • Demonstrating excellent knowledge and insight into the sales and marketing strategy, including industry and prospective client analyses and driving new business development accordingly
  • Understanding competitors' offerings and what it will take to win contracts
  • Preparing and delivering new work proposals to prospective clients, managing the contract negotiation process and ensuring that required commercial documentation is in place with new clients
  • Producing business development and pipeline reports and using this information to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of business development
  • Utilizing CRM for knowledge management of the sales process, potential new clients, new business leads, marketing campaigns and account planning
  • Promoting LabAnswer, its services and our differentiating value-add to clients and the market

Job Requirements:
  • Extensive experience selling enterprise information technology solutions in the Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical Industry
  • Successful Business Development experience in the pharmaceutical industry in the laboratory space
  • Previous success using a systematic sales process to pursue large accounts
  • Must be a passionate hunter and skilled at penetrating new accounts
  • Experience with senior level decision makers for high level purchases
  • A results-driven mentality
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Experience in consultative, business-to-business selling
  • Proactive, positive, self-driven attitude
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • An entrepreneurial mindset & work ethic
  • A minimum of 5-10 years' related work experience
  • Experience using CRM, SalesForce preferred
  • Ability to prioritize, manage your workload, and meet targets and timelines
  • Strong skills with MS Office applications, especially presentation development & desktop publishing

Desired Requirements
  • Laboratory experience as scientist or in an IT role
  • Established contacts in Pharmaceutical Laboratory/IT space
  • Knowledge of laboratory systems such as LIMS, CDS and ELN

Location: Remote/Telecommuter position. Must live close to a major metro area, have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and be willing to do at least 50% overnight travel.
