Goshen College seeks applicants for an experienced leader to serve as the full-time Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and Academic Dean. The Vice President for Academic Affairs/Academic Dean directs the academic program of the college and leads academic strategic planning.  The dean provides leadership to the teaching faculty in shaping the philosophy of the academic program and in developing the most effective curriculum, personnel, and learning environment to implement that philosophy. The Vice President for Academic Affairs/Academic Dean is a strong communicator and creative problem solver with strong fiscal skills who develops innovative solutions to support academic programs and sets the strategic direction of the academic division. The Vice President for Academic Affairs/Academic Dean reports to the Provost, is a member of the President’s Council and represents the College with appropriate external constituents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer the academic program consistent with the mission of Goshen College
  • Manage academic faculty affairs and oversee faculty development
  • Administration of academic policies and procedures
  • Administration of the Academic Budget
  • Inter- and Intra-institutional representation of academic affairs
  • Additional Oversight

Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in a discipline related to undergraduate education. Leadership and administrative experience and the ability to collaborate and cooperate with others to enhance interpersonal relationships.

A distinguished record in teaching and scholarship and demonstrated leadership in a community that values spiritual and intellectual vitality; a commitment to the community standardsmission and core values of Goshen College.; the ability to articulate personal religious beliefs and practices; a history of involvement with a church congregation; leadership and administrative experience and the ability to collaborate and cooperate with others to enhance intercultural and  interpersonal relationships. Experience in the area of technology used in management and the learning environment and international education is highly desirable.
