Position Overview

The Retail Director position is responsible for managing all aspects of the store, sales, staff, merchandise, development of clientele base, and ensuring exceptional customer service. The Retail Director is charged with creating and maintaining a positive, productive work environment in alignment with the company's vision and objectives. The Retail Director is responsible for achieving sales objectives, store profitability goals, achieving and maintaining high operational and merchandising standards, building highly motivated teams, and developing associates to enable them to progress in their careers at Maris Collective. Additionally, the Retail Director is the liaison between Maris Collective and the local community and should function as the local Maris Collective brand ambassador ensuring and maintaining a successful working partnership.

Essential Duties + Responsibilities Drive Sales + Profitability:

• Meet and/or exceed profitability expectations for the store in all KPIs (sales, payroll, shrink, UPT, ADS, etc.)

• Establish weekly/monthly sales goals for each sales associate and motivate sales team to exceed goals

• Prioritize daily store issues and delegate responsibilities to store management and staff.

• Communicate company information and directives to staff through daily and monthly meetings

• Proactively network and teach the store team how to consistently build and develop client base

• Proactively manage the clienteling function in the store and regularly measure success and opportunity

• Maintain active leadership presence on the sales floor to demonstrate, assist, and coach sales associates through the sale

• Identify opportunities and/or propose business strategies to increase top line sales (local market events, trunk shows, client events, etc.)

People Development:

• Actively network, recruit, hire

• Develop and retain high quality management and associates to fill store profile and succession planning

• Implement Company training programs; monitor staff training in product knowledge, customer service and selling skills

• Coach, develop, and motivate staff through performance appraisals of store staff (monthly, annually, as needed)

• Create strong results-oriented team that works together and maintains positive store environment

• Ensure that all staff members adhere to the wardrobe standards for the current season, and appropriately represent the Maris Collective brand at all times

• Clearly and consistently articulate the company's expectations to the staff

Client Experience:

• Set the example by leading the overall selling culture, selling processes and clienteling efforts

• Lead, guide, and support the staff in creatively individualizing the customer experience

• Ensure management visibility on the selling floor to support all selling function

• Consistently elevate the level of customer service inside the store to set the Maris Collective brand apart from its competitors

• Resolves customer issues and/or complaints with a highly satisfied client in a timely manner

Brand Ambassador:

• Cultivate a strong, and positive, working relationship with local hotel property management and staff

• Awareness of local community activities and events, with participation when meaningful, in an effort to increase brand awareness and drive sales

• Strategically recommend Maris Collective participation in local charities and events

• Strategically recommend special events to acknowledge VIP clients and/or showcase key vendor in partnership with Maris Collective Corporate Office


• Execute company visual directives within required time frame

• Maintain standards of cleanliness and organization on selling floor and back of house

• Maximize selling floor for margin and profitability through merchandise and assortment sets while ensuring the brand integrity

• Communicate merchandise issues, quality issues, and business drivers to Maris Collective corporate team


• Profit and loss responsibility for the store, with a focus on the controllable expenses (sales plan and operating profit)

• Ensure that all transfers, consolidations, pricing, shipping/receiving are completed in compliance with all company policies and procedures

• Ensure effective use of systems and technical applications for sales development and staff scheduling

• Supervise cycle counts and inventory management to ensure store shrink is at or below company target

• Ensure store safety standards

• Promptly and accurately complete all paperwork procedures (New hire, Incident Reports, etc.) Perform other projects as needed / or assigned

Job Requirements:

• Experience in retail sales or related field, with at least 5 years of supervisory responsibility (experience may vary based on store complexity)

• Must have POS or similar retail system experience

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office

• Fluency in English and Spanish

• Additional Foreign Language Skills a plus

• Ideally has a cultivated and established clientele following


• College Degree Required

• Graduate Degree a Plus
