The Temple University Assistant Post Office Manager is responsible for front line supervision of a mail sorting and distribution facility which provides mail service to the University campus and community and ensures that mail services comply with federal postal rules and regulations in the receipt, handling, and distribution of all classes of mail. The Assistant Post Office Manager, under the direction of the Post Office Manager, maintains accurate records of the volume and types of outgoing mail processed, determines charges to departments outgoing mail processed, determines the most cost-effective ways to process mail, and prepares required United States Postal Service reports. The Assistant Post Office Manager, as instructed by the Post Office Manager, advises departments on their mailing projects, resolves complaints, and assists with daily mail operations by participating in the receiving, sorting, preparing and distributing of incoming/outgoing mail. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of directly related experience supervising a mail service team of all classes of mail service. Experience and demonstrated knowledge of current U.S. Postal Service regulations. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills & Abilities: * Demonstrated knowledge of US Postal Service operations, regulations, practices, and standards. * Must have a current working knowledge of mailing processes, procedures, and postal technology. * Demonstrated supervisory and management skills. * Ability to supervise, coach, and train a staff of employees. * Effective supervisory and interpersonal skills. * Must have a clerical aptitude. * The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. * Ability to prioritize and schedule work assignments * Demonstrated customer service skills. * Ability to meet multiple deadlines. * Ability to gather and compile information and prepare reports. * Computer literacy with competency using Microsoft programs, such as Word and Excel. * Must have a valid, current driver's license. ** This position requires a Valid, current Driver's License ** Compliance Statement: In the performance of their functions as detailed in the position description employees have an obligation to avoid ethical, legal, financial and other conflicts of interest to ensure that their actions and outside activities do not conflict with their primary employment responsibilities at the institution.
