Location: Online, as well as multiple hybrid locations in the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC Area                                                                                 

University of Maryland University College (UMUC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach in the Business and Management Program.  Specifically, we are looking for faculty to teach the following courses: 

MGMT 610: Organizational Theory – This course explores the fundamental concepts of organizational theory and design in the context of a postindustrial and increasingly global society.  These concepts will provide students with a roadmap to navigate the history of management thought and its relevance for managers as they address the challenges of managing in today's complex and rapidly changing environment.  

MGMT 615: Intercultural Communication and Leadership – This course focuses on organizational communication, leadership, and decision-making skills essential for all managers in intercultural work environments. Theories of culture are examined and applied in relation to communication principles and strategies, and leadership styles and practices.

Required Education and Experience:

  • A terminal degree in Management or a related field is required from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Professional management experience

The Adjunct Faculty Role at UMUC

  • Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed, and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning.
  • Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations.
  • Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments.
  • Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
  • Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.
