The Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Translational Transplant Research Lab of Valeria Mas, PhD and Daniel Maluf, MD. Qualified candidates must have a PhD degree in hand by start date. Recent completion of PhD degree is preferable (2-4 years).
Experience in basic, molecular or clinical research is preferable. Expertise in basic immunology and / or molecular diagnosis is a required. Experience performing DNA isolation, RNA isolation and gene expression analysis using microarrays and QPCR reactions is expected. Quantification and identification of microRNAs, cell culture, cell separation and flow cytometry will be valuable. The incumbent will be required to work both independently and in a team environment, coordinating activities with his/her supervisor and manage several concurrent projects. The applicants should have good writing and communication skills, and will contribute to and prepare publications regarding the field of transplantation, molecular diagnosis and topic associated to the laboratory thus providing significant contributions to a growing research effort.
