Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Assist Department Chair in creating initial drafts of documents based on verbal or email instructions, compiling departmental data into charts, reports, and presentations, arranging meetings (monthly faculty meetings and IAB meeting), conducting preliminary review of all documents before presenting for Chair signature, and tracking due dates for department processes (T&P submissions, annual reviews, award nominations, etc.).
Assist Undergraduate Program and Faculty Development Committee Chairs in various administrative processes as requested.
Manage the department office, including supervising other staff persons who respond to faculty requests, prepare documents (TA, TRV, Requisitions and Payment Requests), and maintain office supplies.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience in business management, administrative services or related field; or equivalency.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree and five years experience in administrative service position

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Ability to exercise discretion in interpreting and applying established policies and procedures and when dealing with people. Ability to set priorities and manage details. Medium to high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Access), and ability to quickly learn online tools such as SharePoint, Blackboard. Experience in an educational setting. Basic understanding of computer hardware and software and use of presentation equipment.
