Conditions of Employment  

Possession of a valid Driver's License is required.  Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.

The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate is required to complete a background check prior to assuming this position.

Department Marketing Statement  

Department: Athletics

The Athletic Department administers an intercollegiate program sponsoring 4 men's teams and 6 women's teams.  A member of Division II of the NCAA, CSUDH competes in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).  Other functions of the unit include public relations, sports information, athletic training, fund-raising, scheduling of campus athletic facilities, and recruitment and retention of student-athletes.  The Department and University place a high priority on academic standards and the personal growth of the student-athlete.  

Major Duties  

Under the immediate supervision of the Athletic Director, the incumbent will assist the Compliance Coordinator with a variety of clerical duties related with daily operations in their respective divisions. Assist in maintaining Compliance with NCAA & CCAA rules & regulations, certification of eligibility and rules education for coaches. Responsible for monitoring & tracking recruitment logs, CARA logs, length of playing & practice seasons, official & unofficial visits and assist with NLI/CLI and financial aid.  Assist with various reports requested by NCAA, CCAA and Chancellor's Office.  

Qualifications  

Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education:  Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
Preferred Education: Master's Degree from an accredited university

Required Experience: One to two years paid experience working in an Athletic Compliance Role.
Preferred Experience: Two to four years working in an Athletics Compliance Assistant Role

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of: NCAA rules & regulations (DI, DII or DIII) pertaining to Compliance.
Correct English grammar, spelling and punctuation - Office methods, procedures and practices - standard and computerized office systems and equipment - ability to prepare formal business letters, memos & reports.

Abilities to: Gather and analyze data; ability to reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; ability to participate in and contribute to group meetings. Ability to clearly express ideas and recommendations orally; ability to write clear and concise reports; ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and faculty.  Coordinate administrative support tasks for fast paced office, prioritize work/project based on deadlines and complete accordingly - prepare correspondence.

Skills: Proficiency in the use of computerized office systems an software programs which perform word processing, spread sheet, and data base programs.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Preferred working knowledge of PeopleSoft, Compliance Assistant, LSDBi & ARMS

Certifications: Valid Drivers License

Specialized Materials: Desktop computer; facsimiles & copy machines  

Responsibilities  

The Compliance Assistant will assist with maintaining Compliance with NCAA & CCAA rules & regulations, certification of eligibility and rules education for coaches. Responsible for monitoring & tracking recruitment logs, CARA logs, length of playing & practice seasons, official & unofficial visits

35% -  Responsible for inputting NCAA compliance data

30% -  Assist with Monitor NCAA rules and regulations

25% -  Assist with verifying certification of eligibility

5% -  Work with Compliance Officer to collect required information for various reports requested by NCAA, CCAA and Chancellor¿s Office.

5% -  Assist the Athletics Compliance Coordinator with Student Athlete Admissions & Records as well as Financial Aid. Works with Coaches to determine financial aid needs and performs other related duties as assigned.
