The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for the faculty position of Instructor, Education Development, Foothill College.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
The primary area of responsibility will be classroom teaching and curriculum development which includes Job Search Skills, Career Resources, Employment Issues, ADA and the Law, Job Training and Internship, Personal Development and other vocational and educational classes for students with disabilities. Interface with local career and workforce agencies. Assess and evaluate students' eligibility into the program. Work with students to develop appropriate educational goals and evaluate students' eligibility into the program. Work with students to develop appropriate educational goals and evaluate student progress. Act as a liaison between the program/ division and community agencies. Assign and supervise work of instructional aides. Perform duties such as student recruitment, student advisement and student selection as well as other routine tasks required to insure smooth operation of the program.

Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. Instructors also have the opportunity to serve on district and college committees and participate in campus extra-curricular activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
  2. Master's degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in a category of disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology, or rehabilitation counseling; AND fifteen (15) semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of developmental disability.

NOTE: Official Transcripts verifying qualifications will be REQUIRED prior to an offer of employment. Applicants who have international transcripts must obtain transcripts that are evaluated by an independent educational-equivalency evaluation company and obtain an English translation (if necessary). These services are to be done at the applicant's expense. Both Foothill De Anza CCD employees and external candidates must submit transcripts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Two (2) years teaching experience in an educational or vocation setting with persons with disabilities including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Developmental Delays (NOS), Learning Disabilities, emotional and behavioral disabilities etc.
  2. Experience working with assistive technology such as text-to-speech, screen readers and voice recognition.
  3. Knowledgeable in the use and implementation of universal design in the classroom
  4. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
  5. Experience writing and developing curriculum for students with disabilities in the areas of Job Search Skills, Career Resources, Employment Issues, ADA and the Law, Job Training and Internship, Personal Development and other vocational and educational classes.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, Tenure-track, 10-months per year
