General Summary: The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Media/Video Lab Assistant. The Media/Video Lab Assistant will mainly be responsible for running the production equipment lab, which includes the checking in/out of production equipment, maintaining cleanliness of the lab, and ensuring that all of our equipment is working properly. The lab assistant will also be responsible for making sure our facilities are opened for students who need to use them. Occasionally, the assistant may need to help resolve equipment/software issues as they arise.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The Media/Video Lab Assistant will:
  • Provides supervision and security in the Media/Video computer lab (Nesbitt 4304 & 4206) and keep it open for students to use when classes are not in session. It is important for the lab to be open, safe and secure when classes are not meeting in these spaces, so students have access to the software and hardware only available in this lab.
  • Provide supervision and security in the Video Production Studio and Audio Recording Studios (Nesbitt 4233-35 and 4213/4247). It is important for these labs be open, safe and secure when classes are not meeting in these spaces, so students have access to the software and hardware only available in these labs.
  • Provide aid to students who may need assistance using the software/hardware being taught in the classes.
  • Trouble-shoot minor soft/hardware issue as they arise and work with the IT/Mac personnel worker to resolve any issues.
  • Do standard maintenance on production equipment as needed.
  • Prepare and make ready production equipment for use by students.
  • Maintain the inventory and safely check in/out the video production equipment as needed for course work.
  • Provide production assistance (when applicable) on projects produced in the UNG video and audio studio.
  • Perform other duties as needed.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • General knowledge of film and audio equipment is preferred but not required.


Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker and Federal Work Study eligible.
