General Summary: The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Peer Tutor.

For the Fall 2017 Semester, Peer Tutors are needed for the following courses/subjects:
  • Mathematics
  • Biology 1107/08K
  • Chemistry 1151-52
  • Organic Chemistry
  • Genetics
  • Anatomy and Physiology I & II
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • CSCI
  • English
  • Psychology
  • History
  • Political Science
  • Foreign Languages (Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Korean, Chinese, Russian)


Job Duties & Responsibilities: The Peer Tutor will:
  • Be responsible for assisting students with study habits, test preparation, demonstration/instruction, general success skills for subjects/courses.
  • Be required to document each tutoring session; having the "Tutee" sign in at each session and returning sign-in sheets to the Coordinator of Tutoring each pay period.
  • Be responsible for completing a required 10-hour training NLT midterms of their first semester of tutoring.
  • Be Required to check their emails and and respond to requests within 24 hours.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Applicants must have a minimum 3.33 GPA
  • Native speakers who tutor their language are exempt from this requirement, but must be in Good Academic Standing.
  • Peer Tutors must be approachable, personable, empathetic and possess excellent communication skills; GPA is important, but these skills are preferred.


Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • While CLEP or AP credits are accepted, preferential consideration will be made to applicants who took the course
  • A minimum of one (1) year of college coursework required
  • Prior tutor experience is helpful
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker
