Orientation Team Lead - Institutional Student Worker (Fall 2017)

General Summary: The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for an Orientation Team Lead at the Dahlonega campus. The Orientation Team Lead's primary focus is to assist the OTP professional staff with year-round logistics and programmatic elements related to New Student/Transfer Student Orientation sessions. This work will be done in collaboration with their supervisor and will include administrative work, research, and communication with other offices at UNG. This position is geared towards a current Orientation Leader, or similar, who wants to strengthen their leadership development and positively influence the experience that future Nighthawks will have during orientation and their transition to UNG.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The student will:
  • Assist supervisor in designated area of OTP logistics (varies by supervisor)
  • Support OL student staff during the year and during orientation sessions
  • Assist with research projects to continue to improve the UNG student experience
  • Communicate with other offices on topics related to their presentations/engagement during orientation sessions
  • Act as a part of the Orientation Leader hiring team
  • Present as needed during orientation and training sessions


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work in an office setting and on office based tasks (computer tasks, answering phones, written communication, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate in front of large groups of people (i.e. presentations at in-person orientation sessions)
  • Ability to work on projects with minimal supervision as well as with groups of students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to effectively manage projects (i.e. attention to detail, long-term document upkeep, recording of meeting minutes, etc.)
  • Desire to develop your own leadership skills and assist with the development of these skills in others
  • Continue as Orientation Leader for 2018 (and able to satisfy the 2018 Orientation Leader contract)


Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker during the Fall 2017, Spring 2018, and Fall 2018 semesters
  • Current or past Orientation Leader (preferably at UNG)
