Physics Lab Assistant/Tutor - Institutional Student Worker - Fall 2017 (Oconee)

General Summary: The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Physics Lab Assistant/Tutor in the Physics Open lab. The Physics Lab Assistant/Tutor reports directly to the instructor in charge of the course.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The Physics Lab Assistant/Tutor will:
  • Prepare in advance for the laboratory period
  • Assist students in the performance of their experiments
  • Promote safety in the laboratory
  • Maintain the laboratory and assisting in the preparation and set-up of upcoming experiments
  • Answer questions students may have on the physics course content.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Successful completion of the physics course(s) which are appropriate to your assignment as an assistant/tutor and satisfactory evaluations in any previous position as a laboratory assistant


Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Preference will be given to physics majors and students with prior experience as a laboratory assistant/tutor
  • Successful candidate's class schedule and availability must coincide with the open lab schedule
  • Must be recommended by current UNG Physics faculty member
  • Prior experience as a laboratory assistant is a plus but not required
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker
