General Summary: The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Research Assistant. This position is a research position for a UNG Innovative Research Project - Automated Geospatial Model Development for Stream Bank Erosion Vulnerability Analysis. This is a high-end skilled research job with the application of advanced geospatial technology for soil erosion vulnerability model development in ArcGIS ModelBuilder and requires intense groundtruthing for model result accuracy assessment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The student will:
  • Collect and preprocess geospatial data for model development
  • Develop automated geospatial model to obtain stream bank erosion vulnerability map
  • Perform ground-truthing for accuracy assessment
  • Perform quality literature reviews and help in writing manuscripts and resentations
  • Develop project geodatabase along with other subsidiary project works as needed

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Advanced geospatial technology skills
  • Spatial Model Building expertise
  • Knowledge on Landuse Conservation including Soil, Water, and natural resources management
  • Good report writing skill with ability to conduct peer-reviewed literature reviews

Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker
  • Enrollment in the Environmental Spatial Analysis program with high-end geospatial skill preferred
