As an Assistant Professor of Philosophy/Religion, you will teach at the undergraduate level; be involved in course and/or curriculum development; research/scholarship; participate on College and University committees and/or initiatives.

Earned Ph.D. in Philosophy, Religious Studies or related field from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent accreditation.
Must possess a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the field of instruction.
ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by August 7, 2018. If successful candidate is ABD, appointment will be made at a Lecturer level on a fixed contract.
Experience teaching World Religions/ Comparative Religion, Philosophy of Religion, and courses in Philosophy that complement the existing strengths of the FGCU Philosophy Program (esp. social-political philosophy, phenomenology, hermeneutics, and the history of philosophy).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to demonstrate a record of teaching effectiveness and innovation for undergraduate education.
Experience or commitment to the use of technology in distance learning & university teaching. Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning. Must value continued scholarship and service to the school and university.
Essential Job Duties
Makes strong teaching contributions to our general education curriculum (specifically Contemporary World Religions).
Advises students, works with the community in service learning, and assists in developing curriculum in the Philosophy BA and Religious Studies minor.Serves on department, college, and university committees.
