Position Summary: Established at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2009, the Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program enrolls approximately 25 undergraduate students who are first-generation, low-income, or underrepresented in graduate education, and prepares them for post-baccalaureate study. The Assistant Director for the McNair Scholars Program will be responsible for: program coordination and implementation; student advisement meetings; assisting scholars as they prepare for the graduate school application/admission process; maintaining student records and assessing student needs. Other duties include recruiting and interviewing eligible students; providing academic, financial and personal counseling to scholars, serving as an advocate and liaison for scholars with various university departments and outside organizations; traveling with scholars to local, state and national conferences, and serving as the immediate point of contact for the McNair Graduate Assistant.

Education Requirements: Master's degree in Education, Social Studies, Humanities, Natural Sciences or other related fields.

Qualification and Experience: Knowledge of graduate admissions procedures. Two years demonstrated experience working with students from low-income, first-generation and diverse backgrounds. Possession of a valid NC driver's license.
