Position Summary: This position is a part of the Risk team in the Information Security Office. Core duties include: - Conducting and managing risk assessments - Overseeing the vulnerability management system - Supporting information security operations, consulting, and outreach - Participating in on-call rotation and other team-shared responsibilities This position calls for a high level of integrity, good judgment, knowledge concerning issues of privacy and confidentiality, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work as an independent, productive, responsible, self-motivated member of a team in high pressure situations, at times, while maintaining a calm, customer-friendly perspective.

Education Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or an Information Security degree or closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution; OR - Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in IT Security or closely related area; OR - an Associate's degree in Information Systems Security from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in IT Security or closely related area; OR - an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Bachelor's Degree preferred

Qualification and Experience: Essential skills, knowledge, and abilities: - Broad Information Security experience and education - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Strong understanding of information technology tools and concepts - Excellent interpersonal skills Preferred qualifications: - Experience in risk assessments and vulnerability management - Familiarity with regulations (e.g. HIPAA), audit frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001) and/or best practices (e.g. NIST 800-53) - Information security certifications, such as the CISSP or GSEC - Project management experience - Experience working in a decentralized higher education environment - Solid presentation and public speaking skills
