Position Summary: This position leads Carolina Performing Arts' efforts to integrate the performing arts into the core academic and teaching mission of the University as a whole, as well as to meaningfully engage diverse communities in and around the University. The Associate Director of Engagement will report to the Director of Programming. A primary function of this position is directing CPA's Arts@TheCore initiative, which supports opportunities for students, faculty, and the Carolina community to integrate performances and artist visits into their coursework and extracurricular activities, and strengthens the bonds between academics and Carolina Performing Arts. As such, it requires an ability to appreciate and articulate how each performance and artist poses opportunities for engagement or academic integration experiences. The position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and promoting strategic partnerships, projects and programs, and using these resources to spur valuable engagement. This includes pre- and post-performance experiences, interactions with artists, supporting campus and community artistic projects, providing physical space and resources to enable projects and experiences, and connecting people (faculty, students, community, artists) for potential projects and dialogues. With Carolina Performing Arts' commitment to deep integration of the performing arts into the life and work of the campus and community, the Associate Director of Engagement will be an important voice in identifying artists and performances that can facilitate this commitment.
