Position Summary: The Department of Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks applicants for a permanent 9 month Teaching Assistant Professor position, effective January 1, 2018. The successful candidate will join a cohesive and innovative group of faculty in the department dedicated to teaching excellence. The position involves teaching 3 classes per semester, including courses in Molecular Biology and Genetics and Introductory Biology. The position is for an initial term of three (3) years, and is renewable upon review. The successful candidate will also contribute to the implementation and evaluation of newly funded programs to bring evidence-based teaching methods to introductory courses, and collaborate with faculty conducting biology education research.
Education Requirements: Applicants should have a Ph.D. in the biological sciences or science education
Qualification and Experience: Applicants should have at least one semester of full-time college teaching as instructor of record with a clearly demonstrated commitment to using evidence-based teaching methods in the classroom and have strong interdisciplinary content knowledge.
