Position Summary: The Division of Infectious Diseases at the UNC School of Medicine seeks a Physicians Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) for a full-time fixed term appointment at the rank of Research Instructor. The selected candidate will have broad responsibilities for the implementation of complex research protocols as part of the UNC Women's Interagency HIV Study (WIHS); a multi-center, longitudinal study designed to comprehensively investigate the natural history and progression of HIV infection in women. S/he will conduct clinical assessments as part of study protocols and will be responsible for follow-up of clinical issues, as appropriate

Education Requirements: Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, MSN or MHS, and completion of a Nurse Practitioner program approved by the North Carolina Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners, and "approved to practice medical acts" by the Joint Subcommittee or Graduation and/or completion of an educational program for Physician Assistants accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs and an active Physician Assistant License issued by the North Carolina Board of Medical Examiners.

Qualification and Experience: * Adult clinical practice experience required. Women's health and HIV/AIDS experience preferred. * Clinical research experience preferred, including proficiency in patient interviewing and medical history review. * Experience performing physical and gynecologic exams and procedures and interpreting laboratory test results. Experience with colposcopy and associated gynecologic procedures highly desired. * Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule, which may include early mornings, nights or weekends, and travel between off-site clinic locations on a daily basis. * Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary team structure. * Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with participants, research staff and community representatives from diverse backgrounds. * Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel, internet and e-mail experience. * Experience with electronic medical record systems (e.g., EPIC) highly desired.
