Job Description:

The Department of Health Education & Behavior (HEB) at the University of Florida (UF) is seeking applications for two 9-month, full-time lecturer (non-tenure-track) faculty positions. The Department of HEB (http://heb.hhp.ufl.edu/) currently enrolls over 500 undergraduate majors and 41 graduate students with 13 full-time faculty members. The primary position responsibility is teaching required and elective courses in health education and behavior at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The teaching component of the position will include both residential and online courses with an expected maximum teaching assignment of four courses per semester, or equivalent assignments of effort in teaching, service or research. Although the primary duties are instructional, involvement in service and governance at the department, college, and university levels is also expected. Successful candidates will be given opportunities and time to expand the breadth of their teaching experience and to develop new coursework and educational programs. These 9-month, full time (1.0 FTE) positions will begin January 1, 2018 and continue through the Fall 2018 semester and are renewable on a yearly basis.  Summer teaching opportunities are often available, but not guaranteed. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

$60,000 annually

Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D. degree in Health Education and Behavior or a related field and experience teaching university-level courses. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience as a course director, developing online courses and advising undergraduate and graduate students is desired. Applicants should possess good communication skills. The successful candidate will be able to work with students, faculty and staff from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
