Job Description

DEPARTMENT: Business Insurance

POSITION: Relationship Manager

OBJECTIVE: The Relationship Manager finds new prospective clients, creates and maintains meaningful professional relationships, and acts as a client-advocate across all Lighthouse business units. Through active solicitation, networking, and industry involvement Relationship Managers communicate the value of the Lighthouse brand. The Relationship Manager strengthens client relationships by understanding their business, needs, and long term goals. The Relationship Manager acts as a single point of entry to Lighthouse's capabilities, enhancing the client experience by connecting industry focused Business Insurance and Benefit teams to the needs of the client.


- Communicate brand value consistently to clients and prospects

- Uncover potential clients through effective prospecting

- Master Hoovers, Google, and other sources for finding new clients

- Establish relationships with local centers of influence

- Attend trade shows and networking events and promote Lighthouse brand

- Maintain an active presence within a targeted industry

- Perform significant due diligence on prospective clients in advance of introductory meetings

- Demonstrate depth of knowledge regarding client's industry value chain including suppliers, buyers and competitors

- Understand client's operations, business practices, and risk management preferences

- Act as an advisor on the basis of deep industry knowledge

- Ensure streamlined and consistent access to all Lighthouse services

- Recognize client needs and coordinate with Client Team to deliver value-added solutions across all service offerings

- Assist Client Team in gathering information for insurance renewals

- Ensure client satisfaction and observe all interaction between client and Client Team

- Manage additional tasks or projects as delegated by senior leadership

- Pursue a program for personal and professional development


- Must be able to travel and potentially relocate

- Willing to participate in an intensive recruiting, on-boarding, and training period of 12 or more weeks requiring significant hours, evening work, and occasional travel

- 1-5 years in professional settings preferably in sales OR soon to be graduating college

- College degree or equivalent experience with emphasis in business, marketing, finance, econ or similar fields of study where a high degree of business acumen is expected

- Currently licensed or willing to obtain agents license in required states

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)


- Activity metrics including calls made, conversations, and qualified appointments held

- New clients won per quarter

- Pipeline growth and earned revenue growth

- Qualitative factors including ability to convey differentiators, executive presence, professionalism with colleagues and clients, quality of client and prospects, and ability to work with other Relationship Managers, Account Executives, and Account Managers.
