Responsibilities:

The Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences in the Bouve College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University invites applications from highly motivated candidates for two (2) full-time, senior faculty appointments at the rank of Associate or Full Professor (tenured) to begin Fall 2018. These positions will have the general responsibilities of tenured faculty in the department. These responsibilities include developing and leading an independent and externally grant funded research program; participation in collaborative research with others in the department, college, university, and other research partners; teaching in current and planned degree programs; and college/university service.
In addition, an outstanding candidate will be considered for the role of Director of Research, a position that is also responsible for oversight and further development of the Department's research portfolio and profile in a manner aligning with the department's mission. This role includes serving as Chair of the Department Research Committee, providing input on faculty grants, and encouraging frequent research educational opportunities to enhance scholarship activity of all departmental faculty. The position is also a liaison to the Bouve Office of Research and its occupant will provide regular reports to the Department regarding issues impacting departmental research initiatives.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have an academic terminal degree (Ph.D. ScD or EdD) in Rehabilitation, Movement, Neuromotor Sciences, Neuroscience, Biomechanics or in an innovative field broadly related to Movement or Rehabilitation Sciences, as well as an active and ongoing record of scholarly activity including peer-reviewed journal publications, successful research program, and extramural funding. A record of substantial externally funded research in addition to service and successful teaching in higher education is required. Candidates who are eligible for physical therapist licensure in Massachusetts as well as those who have demonstrated proficiency with administration, management and supervisory roles are preferred, although priority will be given to applicants demonstrating excellence in research and teaching. In addition, an outstanding candidate will be considered for the role of Director of Research, a position that is also responsible for oversight and further development of the Department’s research portfolio and profile in a manner aligning with the department’s mission. The Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences is successfully strengthening its department-based research program, in parallel with the exciting growth occurring across Northeastern University. Centered within the Bouvé College of Health Sciences, the department has strong interdisciplinary collaborations within Bouvé and across other Northeastern Colleges including the College of Arts, Media and Design, College of Science, the College of Computer and Information Sciences and the College of Engineering. Joint and courtesy appointments to facilitate these collaborations may be possible across appropriate disciplines.

The Arnold S. Goldstein Simulation Laboratories Suite, opened in September 2013, provides a state-of-the-art simulation center for interprofessional education.
