The Global Experience Office (GEO) is committed to providing Northeastern students with intellectually challenging and culturally enriching opportunities throughout the world. These experiences complement students' on-campus studies and prepare them to become effective leaders in an increasingly interconnected world. Through study abroad, faculty-led Dialogues of Civilization, and Global Co-op, GEO facilitates global experiences for over 2,700 Northeastern students going abroad each year and 200 international exchange students coming to Boston annually.

Administrative responsibilities include the preparation of draft communications and special messaging on behalf of the Director, proofreading documents, conducting research for special projects, compiling data for GEO reports, coordinating events and receptions, participating in and providing support to committees and task forces, making travel arrangements and completing expense reports.

The Special Assistant's (SA) longer-term special projects will evolve over time to best support the Director's strategic priorities. Example projects include assisting with the development and management of GEO Faculty Fellows program, assisting with strategic planning and implementation process.

Special Assistant provides a comprehensive range of duties to ensure overall efficiency of daily operations and special projects in GEO. Serves as Office Manager and supervises administrative staff and coordinates student workers.


Four to six years’ experience in project management or acting in a supportive role to a senior position required.
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred. Degree in Business Administration is desirable.
Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to create and manage effective office systems and to prioritize tasks and demands.
Exceptional interpersonal communication, critical thinking skills, and project management ability.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, presentation and spreadsheet development, and database management. Strong web skills required.
Detail-oriented, able to understand complex material to communicate effectively, able to work with confidential information and possess good judgment, discretion, and problem solving skills.

Experience studying or living abroad and arranging international travel.
Functional ability in languages other than English.
Background in fundraising, grant-writing, and/or research are desirable.
