The North Carolina Center for Health and Wellness (NCCHW) works to impact policy, build capacity and ignite community initiatives by working through a web of cross sector relationships organized around building healthier places throughout the state. The mission is "to develop equitable opportunities that lead to healthy North Carolina communities."

The Senior Director for North Carolina Center for Health and Wellness (Senior Director) will oversee NCCHW's day-to-day activities, manage NCCHW staff, collaborate with NCCHW and UNC Asheville faculty and staff on program development and ensure that NCCHW's work aligns with UNC Asheville's strategic plan. The Senior Director will represent NCCHW primarily at local and regional levels and work closely with UNC Asheville's Executive Director for Community Engagement on sustaining partnerships with UNC Asheville units and community entities.The dynamic leader we seek will have:
  • A Master's degree in Community Development/Planning/Public Health/Public Administration or related field. May also consider Bachelor's degree with substantially equivalent experience.
  • Eight years of experience working in community health or community development settings with cross-sector stakeholders.
  • Five years of management and supervisory accountability for multiple direct reports.
  • Knowledge of and experience with integrating evidence-based practice and recommended strategies for improving community health into programs.
  • Experience with managing budgets and raising funds through grants and contracts.
  • Understanding of current trends in strategies focused on population health and cross-sector collaboration to improve community health.
  • Knowledgeable about social determinants of health research and trends.
  • Strong technology, presentation, facilitation, research, analytical and communication skills (oral and written).
