Job Summary Responsible for determining whether employee tax withholding and retirement deductions are set up appropriately in the course of auditing personnel forms. Enters name and social security number changes. Initiates refunds and adjustments for incorrect deductions. Monitors various payroll reports as needed. Must be familiar with all visa types and eligibility of employment of nonresident aliens to determine tax and retirement deductions. Responsible for printing payroll checks/advisements and sorting them by internal distribution system. Assists employees and departments with questions regarding net pay and deductions. Calculates overpayments and petty cash checks. Balances the Employees Retirement System report and other status reports. Calculates and makes federal and state payroll tax deposits. Assists with electronic imaging system. This position requires someone capable of exercising judgment in order to ensure that errors are caught and corrected in a timely manner, since errors in this area can mean substantial risk to the institution. Minimum Qualifications Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline with three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible relevant accounting experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
